Capabilities and Equipment Although we are a very versatile sheet metal fabricating and stamping shop, we do specialize in electronics enclosures with an average run size of fifty. We prefer dealing with maximum .125" in steel and aluminum. For working with stainless steel, .074" maximum is preferred. The maximum preferred cabinet size based on all manufacturing limitations for production quantities is 72" x 36" x 18".
The Sheet Metal Shop uses Trumpf Punch Presses, Amada Brake Presses and a Panasonic Robotic Welding cell as its’ core equipment. The Amada brakes have full CNC controls with multi-axis back gauges for quick set-up and repeatable precision. All brake tooling is precision ground and hardened for long life. This tooling combined with the crowning compensation built into the Brake beds allow for repeatable, accurate bending over the full bed length (up to 10 feet). We have two CNC punch presses which are programmed using Solid Works 3D modeling and Merry Mechanization's SMP tool-path software. Both machines are fully hydraulic TRUMPF TC200Rs which uses an integrated linear magazine on a rail running parallel to the x-axis of the machine. There are 17 stations on the rail. The machines allow up to 6-tool multi-tools in each station, providing us with an effective total capacity of 90 auto-indexable stations. As a result of the linear magazine tooling rail, tool setup time is reduced dramatically because tool alignment is done off-line while the machine is running. The table limit of the TC200R is 80" x 50" without a reposition, which allows us to load full sheets into the machine without an extra shearing operation. The punching capacity of the machine is 20 tons with a maximum sheet thickness of 0.25". Travel speed in the x-axis is 60 m/min, 40 m/min in the y-axis. The machine is capable of a maximum stroke rate of 420 hits per minute. Our robotic welding cell has an Integrated Panasonic six-axis arm, controller and Power Supply. The Panasonic Welding equipment is coupled to an indexing table with PLC control that allows continuous welding operation. The machine shop uses a combination of Haas, Okuma, and Bridgeport CNC equipment as its’ core equipment. We use a 4th axis rotary table, bar feeders, chip conveyors, quick change tooling, and a custom vacuum vise to increase the efficiency of the machines. Some of the milling machine features include geared heads, tapping heads, and glass laser etched In addition to CNC equipment, we have a full complement of manual lathes, milling machines, cut-off saws, extrusion saws, and drilling stations for quick prototyping and short production runs. Our strength is manufacturing non-ferrous precision parts with tolerances up to +/- .0005". Ninety percent of the machined parts we deliver occupy less than a cubic foot.
METAL STAMPING/TOOL & DIE SHOP [go back] From design through die approval and production, we have the ability to meet the most demanding of part and die specifications. We have expertise in making single stage or progressive metal stamping dies. Our designers use SolidWorks software to develop die concepts from part drawings or customer-supplied geometry. We utilize state of the art Wire EDM and CNC machining equipment to speed the construction of die components and die sets. Hansen Industries uses traditional punch presses to perform the high volume metal stamping and forming but we can often do a prototype part using our CNC punch presses. We can do runs up to 100,000 parts and our punch press capacity is up to 75 tons. We have automatic feeders and uncoilers to increase the efficiency of the custom hard dies that are built in-house by our tool-and-die journeyman tradesman. Return to top |
